Good races for Tom Coronel on difficult street circuit in Marokko
Certainly, for Tom Coronel, the second racing weekend of the 2013 FIA World Touring Car Championship turned out to be different than what he had expected. On the weekend in which the Dutch racing driver celebrated his 41st birthday, he missed his braking point in qualifying and ran right into the rear of the BMW of his team-mate Darryl O’Young. That explained his twelfth position on the starting grid for the first race at the narrow street circuit. In that race, the Dutch driver finished ninth with his ROAL Motorsport BMW 320 TC. In the second race, Tom Coronel moved up from tenth on the grid to eighth position and then benefited as other drivers made mistakes. In spite of a thrilling final lap, he eventually came home sixth. A great recovery after an unfortunate start of the weekend. Tom Coronel was the best-placed BMW driver in both races and now has twelve points in the World Championship standings.
