Spring Adjusters
If there is enough space for installation, all Intrax shock absorbers can optionally be equipped with a ‘spring adjuster’ which allows the rigidity of the spring (not to be confused with the ride height/spring preload) to be adjusted.
The choice between rigid or flexible springs is a major adjustment. The rigidity of the spring is expressed in the spring constant, with the most commonly used unit kg/cm. Until now, this meant that when you bought a shock absorber set, you would have to buy multiple sets of springs (for example: 190, 200, 210 and 220 kg/cm) for maximum performance.
Intrax provides a spring adjuster that solves this problem and enables an optimal adjustment under all circumstances, while at the same time reducing adjustment times and cost.
On the race circuit, rigid springs are installed for a good stability when the weather is dry. In wet weather, softer springs provide a better traction and predictability. Simply said, the springs should be rigid for a lot of grip and a flat road surface, and with less grip and many bumps, smoother springs result in faster lap times.
By sliding the spring further into the spring adjuster, that part of the windings is disabled, and the spring becomes more rigid. In the event of a change of position of the spring adjuster, the ride height must be corrected. Each step should be matched with a correction of four revolutions of the spring adjuster.
The different product options
Various options are possible on the different shock absorber systems that we make. The options vary widely. Click below for a more detailed explanation.
• Black Titan coating, optimizes the functioning of the shock absorber by reducing friction and stick slip. It also protects the shock absorber because the coating is rock hard.
• ARC®, a system that makes it possible to work with a softer spring and/or setting with the associated advantages but without the disadvantages.
• EMC, no more getting out to set the shock absorbers harder or softer, but from your driver's seat.
• EHC, raise/lower the front or entire car from your car, with the option to drive at that height.
