Creative Action Rally Team 1st in their class by Monte Carlo Rally
With their Datsun 240Z with Intrax shocks, the Dutch team Herman van Oldenmark / Fred Hak achieved an unprecedented result in the famous Monte-Carlo Rallye. In a field of 328 participants, they drove to 34th place overall. Moreover, they achieved victory in their class, with corresponding corridor to the staircase and two beautiful cups.
After the start in Glasgow on January 27 followed a war of attrition, with two days and nights without sleep. After this initial route, they began on January 30 from Monte Carlo to the real thing. Three days of concentrated drive and the stages within the prescribed time travel. This involves the tenths of seconds! All tests were plotted on winding mountain roads, with occasional snow and ice as an additional handicap.
The rally was the night of 2 February 3 ended with three tests in the mountains above Monaco, which includes the legendary Col de Turini. The roads were extremely slippery by the thousand headed strong audience, which caused additional spectacle. Herman, Fred and the Datsun felt supported by the quick service car containing Hilversummers Sweder Stachouwer and Younus Zuidema and the service team of Bas Auto Service, but then right at home. They shut the rally as best Dutch team, best Datsun, winner in the category III and 34th overall.
