Mazda MX5 Cup (since 2019)
Intrax was requested if it was possible to build a relatively cheap Cup car (€ 31.500,00 excl. VAT including a race overall) from the latest (ND) Mazda MX-5 184 HP andrnable to drive under the 2 minute lap time on circuit Zandvoort.
Intrax upgraded, the already great double wishbone suspension, from the Mazda MX5 for track use. One of the things done was changing all rubbers for precision bearings (28 already in the suspension), stiffening the chassis, upgrading brake lines and brake pads, adding a differential cooler, replacing the battery etc..
All these upgrades resulted in a lap time of 1.57,8 in the first outing of the car. The car was tested extensively during the winter season of 2019 by many different drivers. They all came out with a big smile and the same text “what a great drivers car”.
The 960kg rear wheel driven car has lots of grip. The car is able to break very late and take lots of entry speed into the corners. This makes it a challenging car for the driver who is ready for the next step and for the (very) experienced driver. The limit is far, far away.
