What can be more fun than upgrading the ‘looks’ of your car and improving its road holding, combined with the highest possible comfort? And when your car is a competition car, what can be better than fitting it with custom made shock for the best road holding? Through years of targeted new developments, INTRAX became an expert in this field. We have already amazed many INTRAX customers with the possibilities of the custom build shock absorbers.

Epic Off-road shocks
The EPIC shock absorber is specially
developed by Intrax as a heavy-duty shock absorber. Because of the
extreme diameters, volumes and reservoirs with cooling fins that are
used with these shock absorbers, they are extremely suitable for
heavy off-road work or other conditions where the shock absorber must
be able to handle extreme compression due to high piston speeds. The
EPIC shock absorbers are available in the well-known Intrax
configurations 1K2, 2K2, 4-Way and can be extended with the optional
Black Titan and ARC®.
The EPIC shock absorber has a piston of
52mm Ø for maximum control, even during extreme movements that are
common in off-road racing. The huge volume of this EPIC series,
combined with the choice of materials and our unbeatable thermostat,
ensure consistent control under the toughest conditions.

The Macpherson is our top product. The damper is adjustable in the low-speed compression, the high-speed compression, rebound and the overall reach of the low-speed compression, these can all be adjusted separate. The inner works is much more advanced then our other dampers and contains 115 precision engineered parts.
The low-speed compression damping controls the front-rear and left-right movements of the car (“pitch” and “roll”). The high-speed compression controls the movement of the wheels over sharp bumps, like marbles and curb stones. The rebound damping controls the body movements and absorbs unwanted energies, which otherwise would unsettle the car.
The Macpherson can be equipped with spring rate adjusters and the “Black Titan” coating.
In special applications, if the physical room allows us, we can fit the “XL” version, upgrading the diameter from 45 to a huge 50 or even 52mm.
The
4-Way shock absorber is Intrax’ top-rated product. The damping can
be adjusted separately for the low-speed bump (inward damping), the
high-speed bump and the rebound (outward damping) of the shock
absorber. You can also adjust the total compression range. The 4-Way
shock absorber is based on the same technology that has helped
Schumacher become a World Champion. The interior is more
comprehensive than that of all other Intrax dampers and contains more
than 115 precision parts.
- The slow inward damping
(also known as ‘low-speed compression’) determines, overall, the
front to back and left to right movement of the car (also known as
'pitch’ and ‘roll’). These movements are the result of
acceleration, braking and cornering speed.
- The fast
inward damping (also known as ‘high-speed inward compression’)
determines, roughly speaking, the compression of the wheels on short
bumps, such as curb stones and rills in the road surface.
-
The outward damping (also known as ‘rebound’) stabilises the car,
damps the unwanted movements and absorbs the unwanted
energies.
Large diameters Where
possible, the housing of the 4-Way shock absorber is made of
high-quality aluminium (if desired or required, it can also be made
of steel). This guarantees a low weight, maximum strength and optimal
cooling. Whilst designing the 4-Way shock absorber, the largest
possible diameter is chosen for an even more accurate control of the
damping; usually a 52mm housing with 46mm piston. Where possible,
Macpherson struts are fitted as upside-downs with a 45mm diameter
instead of a thin piston rod that is mounted to the chassis.
The 1K2 is a ‘high-end’ shock absorber with springs (also known as ‘coil-over’) for demanding street and competition use, that is adjustable in height and damping. It is modular and, apart from the piston rod, entirely composed of high-quality anodised aluminium or, if desired/required, steel. On average, the 1K2 light-alloy shock absorber is 30% lighter than a comparable steel shock absorber. The principle is based on the same technology that has helped Schumacher become a World Champion.
If it involves a Macpherson suspension, the absorber will feature a design with a 45mm Ø upside down insert. This upside-down design delivers a much higher installation rigidity (less flexibility) to the Macpherson suspension. This higher installation rigidity results in much better handling and more direct steering behaviour.
Setting All
shock absorbers that Intrax manufactures are custom-built. This means
the shock absorbers will only be manufactured once the specific data
of the car (tyre type, use of the car, any adjustments made to the
car, etc.) and the driver's wishes are known. Based on these data,
the engineers calculate/design the ideal shock absorber, which will
then be manufactured.
Adjustable
damping Due to the larger
diameter of the 1K2's piston in comparison with the RSA, the
adjustment can be even more refined. Unlike many competitors, Intrax
deliberately opts for a single knob for the adjustment of the
damping. With this single knob, you can adjust the bump (inward
stroke) and rebound (outbound stroke) at the same time, in the proper
pre-programmed ratio.
Thermostat The
1K2 damper is fitted with an internal thermostat. The thermostat
keeps the damping constant at varying temperatures. This means the
damping and driving behaviour remain exactly the same at various
operating and ambient temperatures.
Large
diameters Where possible, the
housing of the 1K2 shock absorber is made of high-quality aluminium.
This guarantees a low weight, maximum strength and optimal cooling.
Whilst designing the 1K2 shock absorber, the largest possible
diameter is chosen for even more accurate damping control; usually a
52mm housing with 46mm piston. Where possible, Macpherson struts are
fitted as upside-downs with a 45mm (52mm for the XL version) diameter
instead of a thin piston rod that is mounted to the chassis.
The 2K2 is a
‘high-end’ 2-way system (bump and rebound separately adjustable) shock absorber with springs (also known as
‘coil-over’) for demanding track day and competition use, that is
adjustable in height and damping and always comes with an external reservoir. It is modular and, apart from the
piston rod, entirely composed of high-quality anodised aluminium with
external reservoirs. On average, the 2K2 light-alloy shock absorber
is 30% lighter than a comparable steel shock absorber. It is based on
the same technology that has helped Schumacher become a World
Champion.
If it involves a
Macpherson suspension, the absorber will feature a design with a 45mm
Ø (52mm for the XL version) upside down insert. This upside-down
design delivers a much higher installation rigidity (less
flexibility) to the Macpherson suspension. This higher installation
rigidity results in a much better handling and a more direct steering
behaviour.

Adjustable
damping Because of the second knob for the settings and the
external reservoir, the 2K2, in comparison with the 1K2, can be
adjusted in an even more refined way. For example, the 2K2 allows for
an independently adjustable bump (inward stroke of the shock
absorber) related to the rebound (outward stroke of the shock
absorber). The knob to adjust the bump is located on the external
reservoir. The independently adjustable bump and rebound in
combination with an external reservoir makes the 2K2 the ideal shock
absorber for the demanding competition (track day) driver, who wants
to remain in full control.
Thermostat The
2K2 damper is fitted with an internal thermostat. The thermostat
keeps the damping constant at varying temperatures. This means the
damping and driving behaviour remain exactly the same at various
operating and ambient temperatures.
Large
diameters Where possible, the
housing and the external reservoir of the 2K2 shock absorber are made
of high-quality aluminium. This guarantees a low weight, maximum
strength, optimal cooling and large volumes because of the external
reservoir. Whilst designing the 2K2 shock absorber, the largest
possible diameter is chosen for an even more accurate damping
control; usually a 52mm housing with 46mm piston. Where possible,
Macpherson struts are fitted as upside-downs with a 45mm (52mm for

The RSA shock absorber is a height and damping adjustable shock absorber kit with springs (also called 'screw sets’). The RSA, or ‘Road Sport Adjustable’ damper is a high-quality shock absorber, made up of the same quality components as our race absorber. The absorber is based on the same technology that has helped Schumacher become a World Champion.
Adjustable damping Because the RSA features adjustable damping, its inside is more extensive than with the RS. Unlike many competitors, Intrax deliberately opts for a single knob for the adjustment of the damping. With this single knob, you can adjust the bump (inward stroke) and rebound (outbound stroke)at the same time, in the proper pre-programmed ratio.
Thermostat The damper is fitted with an internal thermostat. The thermostat keeps the damping constant at varying temperatures. This means the damping and driving behavior remain the same at various operating and ambient temperatures.
Settings
All shock absorbers that Intrax manufactures are custom build. This means the shock absorbers will only be manufactured after the specific data of the car (type of tires, use of the car, any adjustments made to the car, etc.) and the driver's wishes are known. Based on this data, the engineers calculate/design the ideal shock absorber, which will then be manufactured according to these calculations and drawings.
These height-adjustable shock absorbers
with springs (also called ‘screw sets’) are the next step after
lowering springs in improving road holding. The RS (or ‘Road
Sport’) damper is a high-quality shock absorber, made up of the
same quality components as our race absorber. The absorber is based
on the same technology that has helped Schumacher become a World
Champion.
Settings The settings of these shock
absorbers are custom build Tell us what you want and what has been
modified to your car already and we will adjust the settings and
springs to match your needs.
The RS is usually supplied with the
following setting:
* Comfort / Fast Street. This is an
upgrade of the standard components toward the sportive side. Since
all our shock absorbers are custom build, Intrax offers any setting
you want.
Daily comfort and minimising vibration and noise
levels are just as important as the ‘handling’ of the car. The
shock absorbers are optimised for the Dutch roads.
